Fleetwood Lights 2023
This special event is inspired by Fleetwood’s 3 lighthouses. The 3 lighthouse system became operational for the first time on 1st December, 1840.
Fleetwood was the only port in the country to have had 3 lighthouses. One of these, the sea based Wyre light, was the first of its type in the world to be operational.
Fleetwood Lights is part of the Fleetwood High Street Heritage Action Zone HSHAZ) Cultural Programme funded by Historic England, HM Government, Arts Council England and the Heritage Fund with support from Wyre Council.
The Fleetwood Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) Cultural Consortium is a group of local arts and heritage organisations led by Fleetwood Museum, delivering a 3-year cultural programme of events and activities to celebrate and engage local people with their town centre heritage – this is called From Nothing to Now.
Lower Lighthouse
A kaleidoscope of colour accentuates the lighthouse providing an added dimension and greater night time presence, enhancing its key architectural features as well as its heritage significance.

As night falls, the monster illuminates Marine Hall, offering some light-hearted fun to visitors.
Pharos Lightouse
Draped in light curtains, bringing a magical Christmas look to this towering icon.

Catch a glimpse of historic poster art promoting glorious Fleetwood.
The Stars Come Out At Night
A striking installation which captures the beauty and wonder of the night sky, bringing a glimmer of starlight right down to earth. The large sculptural piece slowly rotates to reveal beautiful star patterns on the surrounding landscape.

Fleetwood Lights, a spectacular celebration of the town’s rich heritage, inspired by the coastal town’s three historic lighthouses and funded by Historic England.
From 1st to 3rd December, residents and visitors alike are invited to use our map to explore the light installations from 5pm to 9pm that will illuminate key landmarks and buildings.
Fleetwood is the only port in the country to host three lighthouses – the Lower Lighthouse, Pharos Lighthouse, and the sea-based Wyre Light. The three lighthouse system first lit up the town on 1st December 1840, marking a pioneering achievement in maritime history.
The Fleetwood Lights event, a collaboration with Fleetwood High Street Heritage Action Zone Cultural Programme and Fleetwood Museum, will be a mesmerizing experience.
